Frank Fahrenkopf, the only head of the American Gaming Association since its 1995 inception, is stepping down at the end of June.

NRA to hold seminar for legislators on semiautomatic weapons

The National Rifle Association is hosting an "elected officials-only classroom and range tutorial" this month to educate lawmakers on the "purpose and practical use of semi-automatic firearms and the differences between semi-automatic and automatic function." Although an email from the NRA to state lawmakers asserts the session was planned before the Newton tragedy, it also says "with the upcoming session looming...this is an extremely important debate and one in which accurate information is paramount."

Making predictions shortly before an election is both arrogant and brave – I am sure the proverbial “others” would deploy other adjectives. But daring to unveil one’s Delphic powers a year in advance: That is hubris of a different order. Or, perhaps, sheer lunacy. But why come down from my lofty Pundit’s Perch, where you underlings peep about to find yourself honored by my predictions, so late in the game? It’s that time again to bravely go where I have gone so many times before. But before I do, a pundit  must eat crow or crow with delight about previous soothsaying.

The excellent, detailed recitation by Jonathan Martin and Glenn Thrush of the last 34 days of the campaign contains a brief snippet about President Obama's "three-day cram session" in October at Lake Las Vegas in Henderson. The "scene out in the Westin resort.....was tense, surreal and unsettling, 'just full of bad vibes,' one team member would recall," the authors write.
