The Republican Jewish Coalition continues to be active in Nevada -- hello, Sheldon Adelson -- and now has harnessed a disgusted Home Depot founder to make its case.
There's a TV ad and a web video:
About halfway through my half-hour chat with David Axelrod on Tuesday, President Obama’s top political adviser said matter-of-factly what has become all too clear, especially to Mitt Romney: “It’s a choice; it’s not a referendum.”
Amid all the stuff I expected – Obama is for the middle class, Romney is for tax cuts –that obvious statement seemed so unexpected. Yet, so simple, so true.
Nowhere is the success of the Obama campaign five weeks out so obvious and yet so startling as it is in...
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has a survey indicating Rep. Joe Heck has a 4-point lead over Speaker John Oceguera.
The 42-38 result will make more sense to folks than the 13-point edge Heck enjoyed in a "newspaper" poll a few weeks ago. Even smart Democrats I know think Heck is ahead by high single digits, but this DCCC survey clearly is being released to show people the race remains competitive. It does, if only because of the Democratioc machine's efforts.
The memo is linked...
Secretary of State Ross Miller has decided to advocate for a raft of campaign reforms in a state where most serious efforts have been entombed by craven legislators.
Among the concepts in a bill draft I have obtained and posted below (with a summary) is the most important one of all: Real-time, year-round campaign contribution reporting.
Kudos, SOS.
Also:
----Prohibition on gifts
----Greater disclosure from third party groups
----Reporting ending fund balance (amazing this does not exist...
In the latest edition of his weekly report, nationally respected pundit Stu Rothenberg says there are only 54 electoral votes in five states that are up in the air now -- and Nevada's six are among them.
Rothenberg has the count at 278 electoral votes for President Obama (237 solid and 41 lean) and 206 for Mitt Romney (191 solid and 15 lean). The remaining 54 are: Nevada (6), Florida (29), Iowa (6), Colorado (9) and New Hampshire (4).
Of course, if Rothenberg's count proves prescient, Nevada...
Assembly Majority Leader Marcus Conklin, up against highly touted Republican Wesley Duncan, is going up on television today.
You don't see too many TV ads in Assembly races, but Conklin knows he has a difficult race -- that's why veteran Democrtaic operative Sean Sinclair, who used to consult with former Speaker Richard Perkins, was brought in to help, and Jon Summers, the ex-Harry Reid aide, helped produce the TV spot. This one is going to be interesting to watch.
Here's the ad, a classic "...
Ralston Reports premium subscribers learned it first this weekend.
But here's what the secretary of state just put out:

DEMOCRATS CONTINUE TO OUTPACE REPUBLICANS IN NEVADA VOTER REGISTRATION
Secretary of State Ross Miller Reminds Nevadans there is still time to Register for the November Presidential Election
(Carson City, NV; October 1, 2012) - Numbers released today by Secretary of State Ross Miller's Elections Division show Democrats registered more than twice as many voters than...
A survey conducted for Greg Brower's state Senate re-election bid indicates he is pulling away from challenger Sheila Leslie as he becomes better known.
The numbers: 50 percent for Republican Brower to 40 percent for Democrat Leslie.
The poll, conducted last week by a robopoll outfit, had a huge sample -- 1,097 voters -- so the margin of error is quite small (3 percent). All the usual caveats apply with robopolling. But I have seen the entire polling instrument and the internals make sense.
It...
In the latest Ralston Reports poll, 73 percent said they believe President Obama will win Nevada. Three hundred thirty-five people voted.
A new poll is up on the U.S. Senate race. Vote now!
State Sen. Michael Roberson will propose later today that the Legislature inject about $20 million a year to intervene in the early grades to help Hispanic children speak English.
Roberson confirmed the move in an interview and said he has the support of Clark County Superintendent Dwight Jones, whom he praised. The funding would allow the hiring of 400 school personnel, including 200 teachers and 200 instructional aides.
Where will the money come from? "I look at it this way," Roberson told...
