So what did prominent elected officials and others give thanks for on Thursday?
I happen to know:
Gov. Brian Sandoval: For the Nevada Democrats. For a Goodman being hard to find. For the red wave (but did it have to be SO big?).
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid: For Brian Sandoval and Joe Heck loving where they are. For the Assembly Republican Caucus. For making it to 75 on Tuesday – a k a for his eighth life (or is it his ninth?).
Sen. Dean Heller: For not too many people noticing that he ran...
In a series of emails sent last night to his caucus, Non-Speaker-Designate Ira Hansen instructed his colleagues that he is still in charge, that committee assignments will remain in effect and that his replacement as speaker will have to hire the chief of staff he hired and the policy person he wanted.
Oh, this is going to be some session, folks.

UPDATED, 7 AM, 11/24/14: A rare glimpse into who lawmakers, at least this one, think are potential donors -- you know the same people who then lobby them. Below this piece I have posted the donor list Michele Fiore sent to all her members to call for money to retire their debts.

This weekend, before Ira Hansen announced his abdication, Speaker-in-Hoping Michele Fiore sent a long email to her caucus colleagues, announcing a tour of Switch and NPRI's Geoff Lawrence as the staff person for...

Ira was fun while he lasted. I doubt we will have the same “luck” with Michele Fiore, whom no one wants...
“I thought Ira was great. I have hope.”
That was the text I received from a prominent Republican, and a sentiment echoed by many others, shortly after Ira Hansen appeared on “Ralston Reports” last week. I had pushed the assemblyman on his social conservatism and evolution-denying, but he had insisted he was in a different role as speaker and would play ball with the governor.
Six days later, after what Hansen might call an Oriental water torture of revelations about his views on gays, African-...
UPDATE: Here's Hansen's somewhat unrepentant statement.
For the greater good of the State of Nevada and the cause I support it is necessary for me to withdraw as Speaker Designee. The tens of thousands of people who both read my columns and listened to my radio shows through two decades in the media know this has been a carefully orchestrated attack to remove a conservative Republican from a major leadership role in State government. The deliberate character assassination and the politics of...
