Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid is trying to woo Jacky Rosen, head of a prominent temple, to run for Congress, sources confirm.
Rosen, who plans a DC trip next week, was not available. But I'm told the godfather and his political consigliere, Rebecca Lambe, have talked to Rosen, who helms Congregation Ner Tamid. And, I'm told, she has had coversations with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
Team Reid apparently believes Rosen, who is well connected in Southern Nevada, fits the profile needed to be viable in the district: A political newcomer with no obvious baggage. Reid always has believed a female candidate is the party's best bet, and Rosen, who has leadership experience at the synagogue, fits the profile.
The Reidites also believe that with a multi-way primary shaping up on the GOP side, state Senate Majority Leader Michael Roberson's path to the nomination is not easy or assured. I wrote a month ago that national Democrats still see an opportunity in the district now held by U.S. Senate candidate Joe Heck, even after several higher-profile candidates rejected their courting.
