Drive to recall three of the "most destructive" Washoe school trustees begins

The following just went out, and although recalls are tough to accomplish and exceedingly rare in Nevada, with many business and elected doyens behind this, it could get interesting.

(Leslie Mix is the head of the Hispanic chamber, and this is being forwarded around by Jesse Gutierrez, who -- wait for it -- is the husband of Trustee Estela Gutierrez.)

Dear Community:

Below is a letter about recall efforts relating to WCSD. Please fill out your information below and return to this email address. You will hear back directly with updates, information and action items. Feel free to distribute to your family, friends and organizations. Thank you!

Subject:  Washoe County Board of Trustees Recall Campaign

Hello,

As most of you know, Washoe County School District Superintendent Pedro Martinez was fired (now on administrative leave) by the Board of Trustees.  The act was done behind closed doors in violation of the Nevada Open Meeting Law. The grounds for his termination, false representation of CPA credentials, were fabricated and inaccurate.  First Lady Kathleen Sandoval, Reno Mayor Bob Cashell, District Attorney Dick Gammick, Truckee Meadows Community College President Maria Sheehan, Developer Perry Di Loreto and many other have voiced their strong opposition to the Trustees’ action.  A group of prominent, concerned citizens is banding together to mount a recall effort to replace three of the seven most destructive trustees:  Dave Aiazzi, Howard Rosenberg and Lisa Ruggerio.  The process requires that we gather the signatures of 25 percent of the registered voters, who voted in the 2012 election, when each was elected.

We are in the formative stages of creating an organization and campaign, but are moving swiftly and wish to gauge public support and ensure that everyone of the hundreds of individuals who have expressed interest in this effort, gets a chance to participate.  Please fill out the following questionnaire.  We will be compiling a master list so that all can receive communication and assignments quickly.
