I am starting to think Lucy Flores' base may not be Hispanic voters but MSNBC watchers.
The assemblywoman has had several flattering hits on the network, including one Tuesday with Joy Reid. And now she has a Q & A posted with msnbc.com readers. Some thoughts:
►Flores says, "Increasing funding for education will be my top priority."
As lieutenant governor? Really?
I love this, too:
We have to find a solution and I think voters are ready for new leaders who aren’t afraid to tackle the tough...
The RJ's ever-reliable Sean Whaley provided an excellent long read Wednesday on the battle over The Education Initiative.
But the most interesting paragraphs in the piece are the last two, which, apparently, had nothing to do with the so-called margin tax:
State Sen. Michael Roberson, R-Las Vegas, said last week at a legislative meeting on public- education funding that many lawmakers believe the funding is inadequate and requires more revenue.
“We know increased education funding has to happen...
On this date 12 years ago, the U.S. Senate voted to override Gov. Kenny Guinn’s veto of President Bush’s recommendation of Yucca Mountain as the site for a permanent nuclear waste repository.
Two years later, coincidentally also on this date, a US Court of Appeals ruled that the Environmental Protection Agency was using an erroneous standard for nuclear waste containment, defying the National Academy of Sciences. Nevada’s attorney general at the time declared that the victory, albeit small,...
Hillary Clinton has sparked a few political imbroglios in her life.
But causing divisions among our precious youth, Madame Secretary? The humanity.
After a couple of UNLV students with the campus government came on "Ralston Reports" and gained national attention for criticizing Clinton's $225,000 speaking fee for a planned October speech sponsored by the UNLV Foundation, a student senator has taken Hillary's side. This has reinvigorated an ongoing and nasty set-to between the senator and the...
Generally, you don’t need to deploy damage control unless damage has been done.
The parallel efforts during the last week by Hillary Clinton and the UNLV Foundation – both clumsy and heavy-handed – attempt to obscure that these wounds over her obscene $225,000 speaking fee are wholly self-inflicted. And the arrogance and defensiveness are cringe-worthy and obnoxious, especially since both seem to care so much about higher education.
Seem.
Don’t misunderstand: There are some wonderful people at...
