PACs set up to help sheriff candidate Larry Burns, boost gay rights movement

Two new political action committees filed last week are designed to boost the chances of Larry Burns in the sheriff's race and to assist the gay marriage movement:

Badges for Burns would be a willing receptacle for police unions hoping to boost the ex-captain's campaign. Police Protective Association chief Chris Collins confirmed that the three cop unions are hoping to fund an independent expenditure campaign to help their man. (UPDATE: Collins said this is not the PAC they will use if they do an IE.)

Equality PAC was set up by three lawmakers to promote the cause of candidates who want to "ensure the fairness and equality of all Nevadans." The officers are state Sens. Kelvin Atkinson, Pat Spearman and David Parks.

This is only the beginning of the IE explosion in Nevada this cycle. Mark my words.
